For more than three decades, Liquid Motion® has created award-winning underwater films, natural-history documentaries, cinematic underwater imagery and ocean stories for National Geographic, BBC, ARTE, Discovery and international television.

Working closely with scientists and researchers, Anita and Guy Chaumette spend months — sometimes years — immersed in the same underwater worlds, returning to particular places and animals to understand behaviour, follow discoveries and capture the moments when observation becomes story.

How does the underwater world really look to a fish?

Created for National Geographic, Water Colours enters a visual world not designed for human eyes — exploring how marine animals see colour, how they see one another, and how colour becomes camouflage, display, emotion and communication.

Working with leading scientists, the series captured imagery entirely new to science and helped reveal hidden wavelengths, signals and behaviours within the underwater world.

The landmark series became one of Liquid Motion®’s most acclaimed natural-history works, earning 45 major international awards.
